Learn More About the Farmington Food Shelf and Its Partners

The Farmington Food Shelf has a long and successful history in helping those with food insecurity. It has been serving the community of Farmington for over 30 years. It prospers with the hard work of its volunteers and the strong support of the community.

360 Communities is a valuable partner. This partnership allows the Food Shelf to purchase food at lower costs, as well as creating processes for documentation and record-keeping.

In 2018, 360 Communities initiated a reorganization of the food distribution process, consistent with their other Food Shelves. The new “shopping model” began, which allows the clients to “shop” for the foods. This model creates less waste, since the clients are choosing only the foods that their family will eat. It also gives clients a better experience, because it feels like they are in a grocery store.

At the same time, 360 Communities and the Farmington Food Shelf entered into conversations with Farmington Lutheran Church regarding the leadership of the Food Shelf. It still is a community food shelf, with volunteers from many groups in the community.

The Farmington School District continues to donate the space for the food shelf at no charge. 360 Communities continues to be the fiscal manager, provide food distribution processes, and provide intake for the clients using the Food Shelf. Farmington Lutheran Church continues to provide leadership for the food shelf. And the community of Farmington continues to provide strong support for its Food Shelf!
